Kim Holmgren,
CCAC, DipACD

Certified Addictions Counsellor (Ontario)

I am very passionate about recovery, having both personal and professional experience. I have been involved in the recovery community for over 16 years. After completing my own treatment, I began volunteering at the treatment centre that helped me.  It was so rewarding for me that I started on the path towards helping others recover from addiction and lead healthy lives that would sustain long-term recovery. My client-centred approach to therapy is based on an understanding that recovery is not the same for everyone. Depending on each client’s situation and needs, I use different approaches — CBT, DBT, SMART, 12-Step, individual, and/or group counselling.  I strive to guide my clients into finding the right solution for them through the exposure of a variety of tools that they can draw upon daily.

Areas of Specialty: Addiction, Process Addictions, Concurrent Disorders

Registered Psychotherapist (Ontario)

I have extensive experience working in the field of mental health in different inpatient and outpatient facilities throughout Southern Ontario. I have facilitated group therapy and provided individual counselling.

By providing a warm and understanding atmosphere we can engage in a process of change and embark on a journey of self-growth and healing. I see therapy as being a trip through a meandering river, in which – by having been through various meandering rivers – I can help make suggestions to guide the journey, while ultimately, you will be navigating. I use different approaches to therapy, depending on where you are at. Some individuals respond best to a blend of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, while others benefit from an insight-oriented therapy approach. We will determine the best approach to use together.
