-
How much time do I need to dedicate to an IOP?
Our IOPs follow an 8, 9, 10 structure. Eight weeks of programming, for nine hours each week, with 10 additional months of Aftercare. On top of the nine hours of scheduled meetings per week, you will be expected to complete homework and assignments that will help you along your journey to recovery.
-
Why do IOPs require so many hours per week?
For many, IOPs can serve as an excellent alternative to inpatient treatment. But in order for a patient to receive their desired results from an outpatient program, a notable amount of time and effort must be devoted to participating in evidence-based practices and sessions.
Our Intensive Outpatient Programs are expertly designed to ensure that patients receive the attention they deserve so that they can reap the full benefits of an outpatient program.
Additionally, for an IOP to qualify as an intensive program, a minimum of nine hours per week must be dedicated to healing and learning.
-
What happens after I complete my 8 weeks of programming? Will I receive support after finishing the IOP?
Our IOPs include 10 months of weekly Aftercare maintenance groups to support your ongoing wellness. Meet with peers in a counsellor-guided group for two hours each week to discuss progress, difficulties and more. You will also have 10 months of access to our Wagon app so you can track and document your progress.
-
Why is homework assigned in my IOP?
Our IOPs are designed to produce lasting results. That means it is important to use the skills you learn and apply them to your real life. Taking the time to ensure that you complete session handouts will help to identify key struggles, triggers, and solutions that work for you.
-
Do I have to abstain from alcohol and drugs while in the substance use disorder IOP?
Yes, this is intended to be an abstinence-based program.
We do, however, recognize that many clients may still be working towards abstinence when they join the program and therefore only require that clients refrain from substance use within the two hours before and after program sessions. We ask that if you do use a substance at any time during your program, let your counsellor know. We want to work with you to achieve your goals to maintain abstinence during and after your program.
